  • British Commandos on their way to Sri Lanka

Well Ive organised to send the first batch of late war British rifle section and command out to Navin at Paintedfigs.com in Sri Lanka for painting, and along with a further rifle section and a Vickers team that he is purchasing and painting for me this will make up the start of my commando platoon to fight against my Germans.

Navin's team are great painters and very well priced (particulalrly given the dollar ex rate at the mo). I expect these will be back in about 3 weeks if previous jobs are anythign to go by.

When I get them back I'll post details of their service by the way of a mini review, but to give you some idea they charge about £1.50 per foot soldier, for a really good wargmae standard paint job :-)

  • Dutch town house started

Ive started work on the first of my houses for the Dutch town I am planning. So far, just the basic shell, started to add a few details like corner stones and shutters, but still very basic at this stage. Size is 210 x 115 so is a good sized town house.

  • Modelling a Dutch Town

    SL730002

Well having built near future ruins and some Falklands War pieces in 28mm I thought I would try my hand at a complete Late WW2 Dutch town. So far I have a few ideas about how I want it to look and as importantly how "gamable" it is for a variety of ROE scenarios.

The town is meant to represent somewhere along the northern front in late 44/early 45, although its not strcitly modelled on any one place. The buildings are largely going to be in relatively good repair, with maybe just one or 2 bombed sections to add a little interest. As I always do before modelling, plans are being drawn and sketches made of the buildings, although I am staying pretty fluid about the whole thing. Definates are several houses, a Cafe, a church (with tower) and maybe a shop or 2.

Above is the initial drawing of a town hosue I will be starting next week.
